The Full Story
"Every journey starts with a single step"
As a psycho-spiritual counsellor, offering effective counselling in Chippenham, and working with a variety of issues, I see my role as one of support and encouragement to help you to understand your thoughts, beliefs and behaviours in a more compassionate way. At the heart of my work is self-compassion, learning to use this inner resource more, so that we can really begin to see our experiences through a softer lens. There is of course, space for a little bit of humour when relevant!

Working with a psycho-spiritual model does not mean its a religious one. For me, it means working with not just the mind but also with your body (which holds alot of our experiences at a somatic level) and also with the soul (the spiritual aspect). Working with all 3 aspects means we work in a more holistic way.

The type of issues I work with range from anxiety and depression, stress and loss of purpose through to bereavement and trauma.

Going to counselling, especially for the first time, can be a daunting experience but its also a courageous first step in investing in yourself and your future. So I will do all that I can to help ease the experience for you by offering a warm welcome and a confidential place where I will listen, encourage and support you.
I also recognise that it can take time to feel able to trust someone enough to share your thoughts and feelings with them, for fear of judgement or rejection. Therefore, it is your decision as to what you choose to discuss and at a time when you feel ready to.

What happens now?
Finding the right therapist for you is such an important factor in the process of emotional and psychological healing.
So I offer a FREE 20 minute phone call where you can tell me briefly what is bringing you to counselling and what you hope to get from it. I can then assess whether I might be a good fit for you and if not, I will be happy to support you with a referral to other therapists who might be a better fit for you.
OR
You can go straight ahead and book a full 1 hour session with me.
In the first session some of the time will be spent completing some paperwork before we move on to begin our work together.
